K-5 Education Materials

My passion for curriculum development and design was built over a decade in public education. These varied experiences have fostered my lifelong desire to learn and grow. They have nurished my creativity and my desire for the materials I develop to transfer knowledge without sacrificing design. And, most importantly, they have taught me that I can do anything that needs to be done to ensure I am creating a product that meets the needs of all learners.

While the content in the samples below may not relate directly to your company's needs, each is an example of my dedication to making the most out of the resources available to me to create engaging, memorable, and meaningful materials for each project's unique learner.

Just imagine what I can create for you!

Key Achievement:

Development of Comprehensive Science Curriculum

I led a small curriculum development team in the revision and complete restructuring of my district's fourth grade science curriculum. This project included 10 unique units covering life, physical, and earth and space sciences, technology and engineering, and environmental literacy and sustainability.

All design decisions incorporated best practices in education. We aligned everything to our state standards, focused on cross-circular connections, and  incorporated literacy, inquiry and problem-based learning experiences.

Each unit focused on understanding the language of science with explicit vocabulary instruction and enriching literature.

Each unit includes comprehensive curriculum plans, instructor resources, student notebooks, study guides, assessments, modified materials for students with individualized education plans, and an average of 20 lessons and activities, many integrating technology in the learning experience.

Another part of this project included resource acquistion. I coorination the sourcing, selection, and purchasing of instructional materials for each unit. Some resources included mentor texts, educational videos, and hands-on materials for student inquiry.

Print Materials for Students and Teachers

I have created my own curriculum supplements throughout my tenure as a public school educator, as well as in other private-sector experiences. I believe in creating student-centered materials that engage students in a memorable experience while also providing teachers with a valuable resource that helps them reach students in a new way. Interactive Learning Experiences

One way I found to engage students was through the meaningful incorporation of technology. I have created numerous modules and activities that allow students to interact with technology while also collaborating with peers and using print materials so they participate in a balanced learning experience.
